Basically I'm bored so I thought I'd review a couple of films I've watched within the past few months or so I have watched WITHOUT Rosie. Yes, believe it or not, we do watch films apart </3.
Here are two films I've watched (obviously none of these are in our 27 films later challenge):
Sophie Scholl (2005)
Watched this in my history class at college as we are doing coursework on how far the German people were to blame for the Nazi's maintaining power within Germany during WW2. It is a very good film, and I was not expecting it as we usually watch cheap made for tv films in college. It was German with subtitles and tackled this real life story extremely well without bias which you would expect from a German film about Germany's unpretty past. It's very emotional, engaging and above all, very inspiring. Sophie Scholl was a real woman who along with her brother Hans was executed after giving out pro-Allies leaflets at University of Munich in Germany during Hitler's rule. Although it's mostly dialogue it keeps you engaged all the way through and the script is fantastic and very quotable.
'I may be hung today, but you shall be hanged tomorrow'.

Dark Skies (2013)
I went to the cinema with a group of friends for one of their birthdays to see this back when it was released. I had high hopes. 'From the producers of Insidious, Sinister, Saw, Paranormal Activity and Dead Silence' (and just about any other horror film that has been successful since 2009) had been plastered everywhere the film was promoted, and since I had enjoyed most of these films I was expecting good things. Dark Skies is probably one of the weakest of the above films. The story itself is good, but nothing new - family experiences strange disturbances (Sinister) which turn out to be something not from this Earth trying to collect their children (Sinister and Insidious), so they set up cameras around their house (Paranormal Activity). However for me the ending was very bad. Just, so bad. And the aliens in this film were not scary at all. If the aliens had been swapped for a poltergeist or spirit it would've been a lot scarier. Although saying that I screamed out loud when one is stood over one of the kids beds. Overall, this is enjoyable enough but a bit of a mess, it's got aspects of Insidious, Sinister, Alien and Paranormal Activity and it tries too much really and just doesn't know what it wants to be.
